Stephen The Evangelist

Stephen The Evangelist (?-34AD) was a sovereign grace Baptist preacher. He was a member of one of the congregations in Jerusalem, endowed with spiritual wisdom and held in high esteem by the brethren. He was gifted and called to preach the gospel, a commission he fulfilled in the face of great opposition. He is the first Christian on record to suffer martyrdom after the ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ.
