I was born in the village of Grundisburgh, Suffolk, on the 3rd day of June, 1814—I think, sixteen years after the Particular Baptist Church was formed in that place; and in the providence of God, one of the members of that Church, of the name of Stripling, nursed my mother, who carried me to chapel when I was only a week old.
