28 Bible Doctrine – A Devotional Review
Let us take a few minutes to review the topics covered. Our first study answered the question, “What Is A Framework Of Doctrine?”, where I attempted to show the importance of formulating a systematic overview of the various branches of theology, or Bible teachings. Our second study answered the question, “What Do These Labels “Arminianism”And “Calvinism” Represent?”, where I provided a basic definition for these theological nicknames. Our third study answered the question, “Do These Teachings Originate With Arminius And Calvin?”, where I traced Arminianism and Calvinism to the garden of Eden, showing that Arminianism is rooted in free will humanism, whereas Calvinism is rooted in free grace salvation.

3 The Origin of Eldership
In our previous studies, I have set out my understanding of the term elder—that it is an unofficial title of honor given to men and women, who by virtue of their age and experience, are sought after for their wisdom and influence by the younger members of society. That this is the basic meaning of the Hebrew and Greek terms, together with the universally accepted use of the term in every village and province around the world, cannot be disputed. It is only among certain Christian denominations the meaning has been changed to include an official title of appointment representing one and the same office as bishop/pastor. I believe this is an abuse of the term which has led to erroneous views of church governance.

Absolutely no promise or provision has been made by God for the justification of the non-elect. Furthermore, the doctrine of God-Justification belongs to the work of the Father and the Son under the terms and promises of the covenant of grace. It is the Father who justifies the sinner, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. All that the scriptures teach concerning God-Justification fits within this framework. According to my understanding of the subject, there are four basic lessons that can be gathered from these Scriptures concerning God-Justification:
